These are the major symptoms to look for as far as constipation goes.

If you are not sure if you are having constipation, then you should go see your doctor. Your doctor should be able to let you know if you are having constipation by just doing a normal exam. Your doctor is going to want to go over your medical history as well. To make sure that it is just constipation and not blockage, your doctor will do a physical exam. He will check your small intestine and your colon for an obstruction. If you are taking any type of medication, then you might want to tell your doctor what kind of medications you are taking. There are some medications out there that will cause constipation.

Treatment

If you have constipation and you need constipation relief, then you may want to try taking a fiber supplement. Things like oat bran can give your body the fiber that you need. Not only that, but there are some natural things that you can take everyday that act like stool softeners. Another thing that your doctor is going to tell you to do is to drink a lot of water. If you are taking a lot of fiber and you are not drinking water, then the fiber will actually make your constipation worse. Other doctors are going to tell you to take milk of magnesia to help you as well. This works like a laxative. There are other types of medications that your doctor can give you. However, remember that these are not natural, and it is normally better to go the natural way instead. You should always do what your doctor tells you, however. So if your doctor thinks that you are going to need the medications, then you might as well take the medication. After all, it could get a lot worse if you do not.

Relieving constipation is something that you can do naturally. In fact, home remedies for constipation are known worldwide. For example, most people know that fruit is very good at helping to cure constipation. Just be sure that you do not eat bananas. These can make your constipation worse. Other constipation home remedies include things like pears. These are used for curing people with chronic constipation. Of course, you have to remember that you also need to drink a lot of water. No matter what you choose to do, drinking water is sure to help with constipation. In fact, if you have constipation, then you should be drinking more water everyday than what they recommend.

Although your doctors can give you things to help you out with your constipation, you need to make sure that you try natural things first. It is always better to do things all natural than it is to have to take medications. Just remember that your doctor does know best, so be sure that you follow whatever he tells you to do.
