Pimples are a name for variety of skin eruptions ranging from whiteheads and blackheads to solid red bumps and pustules. Pimples are of large and painful. The pimples in the skin which are connected to hair follicles secrete an oily material which normally softens and lubricates the skin. But these do not become active till puberty. Under the influence of hormones released of puberty, these glands burst into activity, excreting the oil up through the follicle on to the skin surface and causing the face, especially the nose, to become shiny. This problem is caused when the outlet of the gland gets plugged with a lump of oil and dead cells. Bacteria act upon it and further aggravate the process. The free fatty acids and other substances produced by these bacteria cause irritation to the surrounding skin. A sluggish system can be a cause of cellulite as well as constipation, which is not only uncomfortable and inconvenient, but nearly always causes pimples. The dryness in winters also causes pimples. Being the mirror, the barometer of an individual’s health, skin is the clue to one’s Ayurvedic constitution i.e. vata, pitta and kapha. This can be better understood by the types of skin an individual possesses.
Say for example: If vata humor is leading humor than skin of a person is dry, rough, cold, thin with fine pores and wrinkled. In case of pitta humor constitution, the skin is frail, fair and red toned with freckles, moles or acne and burns with no trouble.
